In this funny and unplugged activity, we code a message in Morse code for our friends from other country.
The main goal of the activity is developing computational thinking skills as well as getting a better understanding of coding and encryption. Students discover a new way of communication and make their first step in coding in a funny and playful way. Students learn about Morse code and how it was used in World War II. They create and send messages using Morse Code.
Teachers introduce pupils to a brief history of Morse code and show them an online Morse code translator. After that, pupils choose a secret message (about the Sustainable Development Goals), they are guided by their teacher to code it with Morse code characters. They send it to their foreign friends who in order to understand it, need to decode the message.
